Q & A
ask dr. gunk a question
Q. Do I need to cover anything under the hood prior to using Original Engine Brite on my engine?
A. Great Question! You will need to cover your air intake and any electrical wiring, electrical sensors or components that may be affected if they are sprayed down by a direct stream of water. It is also a good idea to protect any plastic housing or wiring that looks cracked or frayed just to be careful. Your engine is made to get wet; it gets hit with a lot of water through the radiator during storms so if you take these small precautions you should be all set.
Q. Where would I use Heavy Duty Gel Engine Degreaser over Original Formula?
A. Our GUNK Heavy Duty GEL is the perfect product to use on engines that have really thick, stubborn engine deposits that can cause heat spots and hurt the life of the engine. The reason GEL works better on built up grime like this is that the GEL sticks in place on vertical surfaces. That allows it to penetrate further into the grease, dirt and oil a help release it from the surface.
Q. Do I need to do anything other than spray down my engine?
A. With all engines there are areas that can collect more dirt and grime than others. If your vehicle has an area that has a really stubborn spot it can help if you use a nylon brush to help work in any one of our Cleaners and Degreasers. After you let the degreaser work in for 10 minutes, spray down your engine with water, then start the vehicle afterwards, finally, let it run for a few minutes to make sure everything is completely dry.
Q. Does your CC3K Carburetor Parts Cleaner come with a dip basket?
A. Yes. This is considered a complete kit. You can put small parts directly into the bucket and use the dip basket to hold anything you don’t want falling to the bottom.
Q. Can I use Engine Shine anytime?
A. Engine Shine is designed to be used as an engine detailing product and protectant. After you clean your engine with Foamy, Original or Heavy Duty Gel, you can detail it with Engine Shine. It also leaves a layer of protection to help make future clean ups easier.
